My Teaching Philosophy

My belief is that golf swings are like fingerprints, no two are exactly the same and this is the way I approach my teaching. Every student has different physical strengths, there are different body types, flexibility limitations, different muscle strengths. so my job as a teacher is to find out how to best maximize a students potential to achieve perfect compression and ball flight. Each students physical limitations will determine that students fundamentals.

Bottom line is, we all have our own personal golf swing that is really unique to each of us. A swing that we each can develop to better reach our ball striking potential.

Being a student myself of the swing, one of the things that I have come to realize is that it is not necessary to have a prior plan when going to the range or the golf course. Your plan should materialize and develop after hitting a few shots and feeling your swing for the day. That is when you should develop your plan and your thoughts/feeling for the day. Develop a plan on what you want to accomplish based on your feelings of that day. Develop a focus point and plan each shot.

Let's take a look at lesson areas that my students come to me to improve.
1) Preshot routines. (swing routines and putting routine)
2) Physical aspects of the full swing (mechanics)
3) Chip shots (mechanics and or touch)
4) Pitch shots (mechanics and or touch)
5) Course management.(planning, club selections / target orientation)
6) Putting (routine, mechanics, and or developing touch)
7) Warm up exercises.
8) Practice routines (short and long game)
9) Playing and practice goals.
10)Shaping shots.
11)Bunker shots.

Secrets of the Game

Are there really secrets in GOLF? You bet there are. There are two different aspects of secrets. Information that is unknown to one person but known by another. This is what creates your desire for golf lessons. I know something that you want to know. I have knowledge or a secret idea or method that I can share that will help your game. This is one kind of secret. There is another kind of secret associated with this game also. That is the secret Ben Hogan talked about. That is the secret path to personal discovery and the mastery of the whole process. This will be our journey. We will dive into both the mental and the physical aspects of this game and ideas on how to improve both aspects. We will discuss the five most important aspects of the golf swing 1) the mental process (before/during/after the swing) 2. the feel of the swing, 3) the balance of the swing 4) the impact position (hands to club to ball) and 5) how to improve and practice in each area. If you understand and practice these five areas, you are on your way.
